It is with deep sorrow that the family of Terry David Faryniuk announces his sudden passing on December 14th, 2022 at the age of 72. Dave as he was known to friends and family grew up in Oakville, Ontario, the son of Tarras and Alma Faryniuk.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joanne (nee Coolen) Faryniuk, his son Matthew Faryniuk, and daughter, Andrea (Matt) Lewis and his much loved grandsons Ty and Brock. Dave was known as “handsome Uncle Dave” to many nieces and nephews spread across Canada and the United States.
Dave attended Saint Mary’s University following his love of football and several former teammates to play for the Huskies, as a student athlete. He was a proud member of the 1973 College Bowl Championship Team and he has stayed connected to many members of this team over the years. As a graduate in finance Dave initially travelled back to Ontario, but soon found himself working further afield in Quebec, Iron Ore Company of Canada, and New Brunswick, Saint John Shipbuilding, but always with the intention of returning to Halifax, the Huskies and the family roots of his wife. After retiring Dave took on the monumental task of caring for his dear Mother-in-Law who suffered with dementia. Dave’s love of his family was unsurpassed and his advice to those he loved abundant. Dave loved a good argument no matter what side you left him to take.
As a final challenge in life and to occupy his time Dave became a school bus driver in the Halifax system and he put his heart into the role of “parent on board”.
The family wishes to thank the members of the regional fire service and the paramedics for their valiant efforts on Dave’s behalf.
A visitation will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 between 2 and 4PM in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. In lieu of flowers please consider giving to your favourite charity.
