Sue was born in Goose Bay, Labrador; the eldest daughter of John Victor and Evelyn Ruth Gray (Clarke). She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, David; children: Christine (Patrick), John (Lisanne); sister: Vicky (Brian), brothers: Gordon, Donnie (Janice), and Jim (Kat); Grandchildren: Liam, Lily, Gabrielle and Collette. She is fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, and a large extended family.
With her adoring husband David, an RCMP member (retired), Sue raised her family across Nova Scotia, PEI and mainly in Newfoundland and Labrador. She fondly described their years in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Mary’s Harbour, Labrador as some of the best of her life, where she made wonderful friendships. She learned how to make great friends growing up in a military family where she lived in many provinces across Canada, and in both England and Germany.
Volunteering was an important part of Sue’s life. She was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion where she had strong family connections. She was an active leader with her children’s many activities and loved working with the Girl Guides and Cub Scouts. She enjoyed hosting her many friends and her home was a gathering place for all of her children’s friends. She loved playing cards and games with her family, and had a very sharp wit with a wonderful sense of humour. Most of all we remember her for her thoughtfulness, kindness and love.
Her family has the deepest appreciation for the wonderful care she received from the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater.
