O’Connor, Shirley Ann - 74 of Halifax, passed away, surrounded by her family, Tuesday at the Palliative Care unit QEll VG Site, Halifax.Born in Montreal, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Marion(Berry) Farthing.
Shirley grew in Moncton, and attended Moncton High then Acadia University. She had an early career on TV in commercials, then recently retired following a 40 year career in Real Estate. A classy lady who was young at heart and spirit. Her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She took great joy in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and achievements. Shirley was a very active person who enjoyed the beach, golf, yoga, dance, music, bridge and the theatre. She was kind and compassionate, generous, and eager to be involved in many volunteer activities.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Kathi Sheriko, Cyndi Hall, her son Sean, daughter-in-law Diane, sister Sharen and her grandchildren Jordan, Jeff, Matthew, Patrick, Ryan, Krista, Kayleigh and Michael.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John and son-in-law, Tom Sheriko as well as former husbands Ken Hall and Dan O’Connor.
A tribute to Shirley, followed by a reception, will be held Thursday, December 23rd at 2 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation for the wonderful support provided by her friends and the compassionate staff on 7A Palliative Care unit of the VG Hospital during a very difficult time.
