MacDonald, Shirley Elizabeth – 89, Halifax, passed away suddenly on February 15, 2012 surrounded by family and friends with loving kindness. She was born in Sydney N.S. on April 22, 1922, the daughter of the late William Ferguson and Martha (Edgett) Ferguson. She moved to Halifax in 1967 where she was employed at the Dalhousie Payroll Department. Shirley was a devout member of the Baha’i faith and served on the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’i’s of the former city of Halifax. She was predeceased by her brother Kimball Ferguson of Sydney. Shirley is survived by her granddaughter Amina Seidemann and her great grandsons Liam and Adam (Toronto) her niece Carolyn Ferguson (Calgary) and nephews David Ferguson (B.C) and Gary Ferguson (Calgary) and Daryl Ferguson (Sydney). Shirley was a longstanding member of the Chebucto Community Singers and the member of the Women’s Council. Shirley will be fondly remembered for her youthful fun loving ways, amazing fashion sense, hilarious sense of humour and her fabulous homemade cookies. A memorial service will be held on Sunday February 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home 2666 Windsor Street with a reception to follow.
