Ronald Charles MacDonald

Age 85 of Halifax, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Charles and Caroline (Slaunwhite) MacDonald.

Ron retired in 1989 following a long career with Canada Post. He spent much of his free time camping with his family or cheering for his beloved Montreal Canadiens. He was also an avid cribbage player.

He is survived by sons, Patrick (Patricia); Joseph (Marie Surette); Kevin MacDonald; cherished grandchildren, James and Brittany; sisters-in-law Mary (Joseph) Newell, Jacqueline (Harold) Haley; several nieces and nephews.

Ron was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” MacDonald; brothers, Fred, Edward, William, Clarence, Harold, Gerald; sisters, Kaye (Brady) and Jenette (Briand).

Visitation will be held in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 4, from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 5, in St. Agnes Church. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 101-137 Chain Link Drive, Halifax.
