He is survived by his adored and loving children; Cate, Reese, and Bailey Weatherston, and the mother of his children; Megan Sullivan. His parents; Elsie Stoddard and Robert “Nick” Weatherston (Patricia), his siblings; Scott (Leslie Grant), and Karen Brown (David) of Halifax. His aunts and uncles; Kenneth Stoddard (Barbara Eden), Richmond, BC, Dr. Paul MacLean, Middleton, NS, Janet Giles, Strathmore, AB, and Marlene Stoddard, Edmonton, AB. His niece and nephews; Sarah Weatherston (Byron Kavanagh), Ben Weatherston, and Will Brown, Halifax. His cousins, Sandra, Larry, Brenda, and Brent Giles, Larry, Michael, Greg, Jamie, and David Stoddard, Lara, Trent, and Cail MacLean.
Rob was predeceased by his grandparents; Donald and Jean Weatherston, and Edgar and Edith Stoddard, Halifax. His aunt; Trinda-Lee MacLean, Middleton, NS, and his uncles; Ronald Stoddard, Edmonton, AB, and Robert Giles, Strathmore, AB.
Rob attended Tower Road School, Gorsebrook Junior High, and Q.E.H.S. Later he earned his Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University. He began his career as a Bond Trader in Toronto. He then went on to excel in a career as a Certified Financial Analyst with Seamark Asset Management and BMO Private Banking in Halifax.
Rob was one of Nova Scotia’s best tennis players in his younger years. Starting as a little boy banging ground strokes off the wall at the Waegwoltic Club, to winning the Provincial Singles title in 1990. He won numerous Junior Events along the way and represented Nova Scotia at the Canada Games in 1989. He then received a Tennis Scholarship to Florida Atlantic University. Rob loved the game very much and it brought him great friendships that would last forever.
Rob was a man of great faith, he had faith in his family and large community of friends. He was an optimistic, positive, kind, thoughtful, loyal, and patient man. Rob was so proud of his children and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He lived his life to the fullest and will be forever missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held on January 24, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home located at 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, as well as a private family burial to take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rob’s memory to Autism Nova Scotia, Shelter Nova Scotia or Feed Nova Scotia.
He rests now from his labours. “Keep Thy heart with all diligence: for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23) and “Love Thy neighbor as Thyself.”
