Born July 29, 1953 in Halifax, he was the eldest son of the late Robert J. and Audrey G. (Boutilier) Watts. He grew up in Fairview and graduated from Halifax West High School.
He started roofing at an early age and formed R.J. Watts and Sons with his father and brothers, Larry and Rick. They proudly ran the company for 25 years, then he had a career change at the age of 43 and went into the flooring industry working for Provincial Flooring and Wacky’s Flooring for 27 years, retiring at age 70. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening and all sports on TV. He loved his trips down South, his first trip was to Hawaii and then Cuba became his favorite spot, travelling with our BFF’s Jocelyn and Wayne.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sun (Oncology) and all of the Palliataive Care Clinic (Bayer’s Lake) for their compassion and care, especially Cindy and Megan, you were fantastic.
Bob is survived by his wife, Jay; brothers, Larry (late Bernadine), Rick (Sierra); sisters, Elaine (Bernie), Judy (Rick), Cathy (Mike), Karen and Diane; brother and sister-in-law, John and Rita Jardine (Rita was my favorite sister in law); as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews whom were loved dearly.
Special thanks to my good friends since we were teenagers, Bud, Stevie, Jerry and Leon for all your visits and calls, as well as our neighbors for all their help and support.
Bob loved animals. Donations in his memory can be made to Rosie’s hometown, LaBaie SPCA, PO Box 159, Saulnierville, NS, B0W 2Z0 or Hope for Wildlife, or raise a glass of cold beer in Bob’s memory.
Cremation has taken place. A get together will take place later in the summer at Queensland Beach, one of his favorite beach spots.
