Julie & Family,  I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob’s recent passing. Bob and I attended Holland College (APA) together in 1979. While there, we regularly hung out, travelled back and forth to Saint John together, and were honoured  to represent the Atlantic Police Academy at several local High Schools in the Great Saint John area, during career development days. Following graduation, and both beginning our careers in municipal policing, we joined the RCMP.  Although the majority of our policing careers were spent in different divisions, I was fortunate enough to eventually meet up with Bob again, (albeit at the back end of our policing careers), shortly after being transferred to ‘H’ Division in 2010. Bob was always a very proud, professional and respected member, who would ALWAYS welcome you with a warm smile. Bob will be greatly missed by all !  Our deepest condolences to all of you during this very difficult time.

Bob, you have left us far too young.  I should have taken you up on a golf day with Larry.  I really enjoyed the morning coffees at Young Tower.  We have both had to deliver sad messages over the years through work and what can you say except to remember those special days.  I thought of Myrtle Beach trips and the stories we shared about our trips.  Yesterday in the rain, I hoped to play Brightwood and remembered that you used to be a member there!  The course was closed at 12:30.  Thanks for the break in the rain Bob!  I enjoyed our round and the beers after.  It was a quiet beautiful day.  See you in the next life!


Julie,  my heart goes out to you at the loss of your loving husband and  friend.  You would absolutely shine whenever you talked about Bob.

Frank and I are deeply saddened by Bob’s passing…we always enjoyed our get-togethers with you guys when we are in NS. We will remember with particular fondness our evening together dancing our butts off in a pre-NY Eve party 🍻😆 Glad we have a picture of that fun evening (somewhere on Facebook) 😆 And Frank always looked forward to hearing all of Bob’s adventures with carpentry of course! I was heart broken to learn of Bob's passing today, my deepest sympathies go out to Julie and the Mcwhinney family. I had the pleasure of seeing Bob at our office often and his smile always lit up the entire lobby. We had chats about life and our families, he told stories of your cottage, his carpentry work and all the odd jobs he did around his neighborhood. Never letting his aches and pains get in the way of him lending a helping hand! Despite my lectures ❤

Really sorry to hear this.   Not only did I get to work with Bob in H div Hq but we grew up in the same area when he lived in Fredericton.     He reminded me of our road hockey games that were quite competitive.   In his professional life he was always positive and told a few stories   And always had a welcoming smile. Hello, I just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you and your family. Having shared times with Bob, when I was an Auxiliary in Lower Sackville, Bob always had a smile and was one of those guys who was always pleasant and dedicated. What a tremendous loss to all of us. Cst Gordon Giffin 

Our deepest sympathies go out to Julie and the entire McWhinney family at this time of tragic loss. I will fondly remember Bobs infectious smile especially when he was with Julie.  That smile was the outward display of the kind and gentle person Bob was.  

Bob and I were both members of the RCMP. As a riding instructor I trained Bob on his basic and intermediate equitation courses and then we were on the 1984 Musical Ride together. My condolences to Bob's family.

I first met and worked with Bob at Lower Sackville detachment back in the 1980s. Bob was one of those members who was an extremely competent investigators, member and ended up being a close friend. He was one of those people who could do just about anything. He helped in finishing my basement, building a shed which included wiring, plumbing, and lots of wood work. Somehow he knew how to do it all. To say the least his craftsmanship was pretty amazing. His motto which he told me came from his Dad was to "do it right the first time or don't do it at all".   Bob was the friend you always could rely on whether for a work related matter or home project. We shared a few refreshments together and he would often share stories of Sean and Sarah and I could tell how proud he was of them. He had met Julie later in life but it was very apparent from our chats how much he treasured their relationship and time together.  Bob was certainly one of the good ones and I miss him a great deal already! I can't express enough my feelings of sorrow for the loss  Sean. Sarah, and Julie may feel but know that he was happy and proud of you and the time he had with you.

So sad to learn of Bob's sudden passing.  My deepest sympathies to Julie and all of the family.  Always enjoyed great conversations with Bob.  Life is sadly too short  for many.  'Til we meet again.  Rest In Peace  Bob.

Bob came to Alberton Det. PEI, I believe as a recruit. I was stationed their also, 2 years earlier.  as their first female member.  Bob lived upstairs in a lovely A Frame house with Dr. McIntyre and i had the downstairs apt. We were all great friends. Bob always liked to pull off many pranks and jokes. I dont think I ever saw him in a bad mood.   What brings to my memory the most was his Two Siamese cats. They did not like visitors and would literally go for my head and neck and attack as I was always sitting there twirling my hair.   Bob rolled around in hystertics and I can litterally still hear his laughter. He was a good guy and a good worker. I am so saddened to hear of his sudden passing and I send love and good thoughts to your entire family. I know how much he will be missed.

We are so very very sad of Bob's passing. He was a kind, humorous man who will be greatly missed at our get togethers in the neighbourhood. I can still see him on Canada Day belting out an Elton John song. It is such a big big loss and we will miss seeing him out for his walks, mowing the lawn and puttering in his garage. RIP our friend Bob.

Bob was a great neighbour and friend. Helpful, kind and quite funny, he will be deeply missed. Our neighborhood won't be the same without Bob. Rest in Peace. 

Sharing the sadness and loss  with the family at this time.  I remember when he was born, when I was in high school.  His middle name James was for our beloved GeGe. He was a fine man and the family were proud of his accomplishments.  
It was a pleasure to be with Rob and Julie at the time of their marriage.  For the many who care, his sudden passing was much too soon. With memories and love S.
