Age 88 of Halifax passed away in hospital peacefully on March 10th 2014. Born on Sept 12th 1926 in St. John N.B. Married his Gracie on August the 23rd 1948. Robert started out his career early at the age of 17 as a wireless operator for the Canadian Merchant Navy. After his tour was finished he joined the N.B. Tel, later transferring to P.E.I. and then to Halifax which became his home. He worked with MT&T in several management positions and later traveled to Ottawa with TCTS then to Saudi Arabia and Egypt at which point he retired.
Robert was a kind and giving man that dedicated his life to helping others. Robert was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. He worked in scouting for many years as a Cub leader and instructor. Was a devout Barbershop Quartet member with the Atlantic Swells. Robert volunteered for the Royal Canadian Air Cadets with 342 Bedford Squadron eventually becoming the Commanding Officer and was bestowed the Rank of Captain by the Canadian Armed Forces.
He never lost his interest in Radio and was active as a ham radio operator well into his latter years. VE1PC, VE1GC.
