Robert (Bob) William Charlton (76) of Halifax passed away on February 12, 2011 in hospital. He was the son of Leo Sr. and Alice Charlton, both deceased. He worked for over 35 years at Eastern Bakery and Bens Bakery. He belonged to the Bakery, Confectionery and Tobacco Workers International Union and received a 25 year membership award. Bob loved his baseball especially the Yankees and also loved to play Crib and usually he won when playing with niece Cheryl and stepdaughter Bernice. He is survived by stepdaughters Bernice (Charlie) Donaldson, Rosanna (Daniel Thomas) Clanden, grandsons Jeffrey (Aviva) Donaldson, Kevin (Anita) Donaldson, great granddaughter Avery, granddaughters Sandra (Stephen) Cooke, Donna (Max) Williams and five great grandchildren, nephew Thomas (Carol) Charlton, nieces Trish (George) Poole, Cheryl (Frank) Berrigan, and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by wife Thelma (Woods-Brennan) Charlton, stepsons Douglas and Theodore Brennan, nephew in-law George Poole and brothers James and Leo Jr. Charlton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2011 from 7-9pm at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street. Funeral service will be held in Cruikshank’s chapel on Saturday morning at 10am, Reverend Gilbert Bertrum officiating. Internment on Monday, February 21 at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7076 Mumford Road, Halifax. Flowers, family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caring and Sharing Angel Tree Food Bank c/o 145 Highway 2, Enfield, NS B2T 1C8 or a charity of choice.
