Age 79, passed away on February 18, 2021 in Halifax.
Peter was the son of the late Harold and Lillian (Nielsen) of Digby. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Frank, and is survived by his brother, Niel, of Smith’s Cove, and several nieces and nephews.
Peter attended Acadia University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science before attending Dalhousie University Medical School. While at Acadia, he enjoyed playing piano in a band for school dances. Peter had a lifelong love of music and enjoyed playing the piano throughout his life. He enjoyed travelling, especially his trip to Israel where he spent a year staying in a Kibbutz. He set up general practice in Sydney Mines while enjoying his beautiful farm. He then continued his education in British Columbia taking a hospital administration program. Peter enjoyed the area so much he stayed there another four years before finally settling in Halifax with a small medical practice downtown. He was fortunate to take early retirement, at age 55, most of which was spent in Costa Rica, where he enjoyed a laid-back lifestyle, taking immense pride in his tropical garden and his dogs. “The pack,” as he called them, were his constant companions. Like many who leave Nova Scotia, he heeded the call to return home and lived in Halifax.
We would like to express our gratitude to Dave Reid, who provided generous support and care to Peter.
