My condolences to Peter's family. I worked on his boat for yrs while I was employed by schooner cove marine. Peter was always a pleasure to deal with and we talked often about his  garden. I will miss him and think fondly of him.

The first time I met my '1st cousin once removed', Peter Corkum, he looked me in the eyes and said, "Welcome to the family". Then the hugged me and lifted me right off the ground. Peter was many things to many people...but in all his relationships he was sincere and thoughtful. Condolences to the Corkum Family and to all who loved him or were loved by him. ❤️

I would like to add belated sincere condolences to the family and close friends of Peter Corkum having been out of the country during his passing.

I  had the pleasure and privilege of playing with Peter on the Dalhousie hockey team for the the 1959-60 season. Peter was a tough and passionate competitor and a great leader. No athlete could find a more dedicated and solid team mate.

Peter and I had fishing camps on Admiral Lake and shared fond memories of casting a fly and catching a trout  there and in the surrounding lakes and streams. Peter was an all round sportsman.

I have such clear and fond memories of the summers we all spent together at Indian Point. What a fantastic way to grow up! I was saddened to hear of Peter’s passing. I was a Carpenter for Peter for 9 years and gained a wealth of knowledge working for Corkum’s Construction. Corkum’s Construction had an impeccable reputation for quality construction and I was given the opportunity to work on some amazing houses in Nova Scotia. Peter was a man of few words on the construction site but this attribute gave Peter our undivided attention when he spoke or told us a yarn. I remember taking my young children at the time to Peters farm. He was so happy to show my children all the animals and gardens. Working for Corkum’s certainly played a part on my resume with the opportunity to transition my career into educating young carpenters today.  I owe Peter Corkum a great deal of thanks for playing a part in my life keeping me gainfully employed for many years. Many fond memories.

I was so sorry to hear of Peter's passing.  With living overseas for the last few years, I didn't see him often, but I have very fond memories of our days back at the Halifax Curling Club.  Peter was so supportive of the ladies playing in the Men's league so we could get more  curling experience.  We had a lot of laughs back then.  

Jo Sutherland wanted me to send along her condolences as well.  She broke her leg a few months ago and still has a cast so she wasn't able to go to the funeral.

The first thing I do every day is read the "Obits",however, last week the paper was soaked so badly I could nit even seperate the pages & i coulld not get through to their office to get a new one. So you can imagine my surprise when I went to the QE2 to visit my brother yesterday & in talking with his wife..my sister-in-law Julie she mentioned that she had been to a funeral.  When she told me it was for Peter I was really shocked!! This guy who was always in such fantastic shape & healthy as a horse when we were at Dal was hard to believe. She pulled out the order of service & showed it to me. I was really upset in that I missed the obit but more importantly missed the opportunity to be at his service. I remenber at Dal both he & Ted were the first to welcome this young boy from Dartmouth to the  first Dal football practice of the year. From then on thru Sig House etc. they became "real friends"
Later in life when I was with Scott Paper it was always so great to see you guys at the many "Scotties." Each year it seemed like  Peter & I used to say that we shud get some of the guys to-gether for coffee, but it never seemed to materialize. What a huge mistake that was!! Fortunately, I was able to spend some time with Ted before it was too late. Sadly, that was not the case with Peter!! This little boy from Dartmouth still thinks often of his early days at Dal & how super great he & Ted were to me back then. I will never forget them!!

I was sorry to read about the passing of Peter. I was one of Peters football coaches many yrs ago. I knew from the moment I met him he knew exactly where he was going. He had ability far above what was needed to succeed at collage football and could have had a professional career. This was the same for any sport that he took up. Peter always knew exactly where he was going and what he was going to due. My office was in the professional building  and overlooked the addition that Peters firm was putting on. I knew Peter over forty years ago when I repaired power tools for his business. Every ten years or so I would run into Peter and he was always friendly and a class act as we chatted about farming and gardening.
Sorry for the loss.

I was sorry to hear about Peter.  I had curled and worked with him and always learned something.  As he stepped away from hese events he was missed.

We are both shocked and saddened to hear of Peter's passing..We worked as a sub-contractor for H.W Corkum for over 50 years going back to the 1970s so I/we would speak with Peter usually several times a year during this time as we did all of his work in our field. (myself for 35 + years)

He also had a great office staff and crew that worked in the field,many of whom worked for him for decades...That says a lot about his character.

Rest easy Peter..We had the greatest respect for you.You were great to work for...If I ever see you again,maybe you can buy me lunch for all of the times that one of your dogs ate mine.

How lucky Scott and I plus Zach & Luke have been to be able to lounge under the Corkum umbrella of awesomeness!  Team Peter & Marilyn took Scott and I under your wing over 40 years ago and we are all the better for it.
Your pre-wedding party for us in 1984, complete with Peter getting me out water skiing is just one of hundreds of memories.  His role in both of our curling lives was our North Star.  His unshakeable confidence in me from the earliest of days gave me my unshakeable confidence.  
My condolences to you - you have lost a great man, father,  grandfather, husband…but what a life you shared together with this humble legend.  He was our terrific coach, mentor, simple wisdom in circle time and easy positive words instilled in us; a belief that all things were possible.  How thankful we are that Peter was in our lives but he’ll stay very much in our hearts.

I am so sorry to hear of Peter's passing. He looked so much like my Dad that one would think that he was his son. I always enjoyed chatting with Peter when the opportunity arose. He was a wonderful person and I am pleased to say that he was my cousin.

The Corkum’s and Farquhar’s have been friends for years, we built a summer cottage on Indian Point in 1940 the Corkum’s built a summer home in 1942.

We were friends in the Seaforth and Robie St days as well. I was an usher at Peter’s and Marilyn’s wedding and Peter was an usher at Karen’s and my wedding in 1966.

Peter and I curled together in branch Jr and won the NS men’s curling championship in Sydney in 1965, and that was the beginning of many NS championships for Peter.

His KaliKcamp gatherings the week following Thanksgiving were very special and his friends always looked forward to the bird hunting and the Saturday night annual dinner and of course everyone knows about his famous garden although most people don’t know that Marilyn had to do all the freezing and making all the jams etc. and all the animals which all the guests and children got to enjoy.

We have had a lot of great memories over the years that will last a lifetime.

To Peter’s wife Marilyn and his extended family, I am saddened to read of Peter’s passing.  Having served on several sports endeavours with Peter there was no doubt that he was an incredible human being.  We shared the thrill of playing Football at our beloved Dal, although several years apart.  His legacy in the Nova Scotia Sports community is revered.  He continued his passion for the game as a member of the Founder’s Club which was instrumental in resurrecting the programme to it’s present state.  He has quietly mentored many young athletes and several have achieved greatness in their chosen field.

So sorry to learn of Peter's  passing. He always had a smile and a friendly word at St. Andrews. I came upon him once at Camp Hill Cemetery,  tending to some flowers he had planted at his Mother's Grave. He told me she had passed some 40 years previously. I tried to make it a point to bring those beautiful flowers some water on my way to work. Peter gave us a tour of his beloved farm, introduced us to his animals and described,  with a laugh, his challenges keeping the deer out of his berries. He was a wonderful  man who made the world a better place with his presence.

I will aspire to be like Peter.
One of the nicest men I have had the pleasure of calling a friend.

Things I remember about Peter ,my friend, .. hunting issues with his brother in law , Bob Schurman { nothing to be said } , .. the hole in Chester Curling Club locker room wall .. [ it was fixed } However, the best things with Peter was come see his garden and THEN have rum and a lobster dinner !!However , I will close with Peter and Marilyn joining Wendy and I at the 1984 Cape Cod Summer Bonspiel !! Eric Kierans taught at McGill,  He was a member of the Quebec cabinet during the Quiet Revolution and of a Trudeau cabinet.  He later became one of the " three wise men"  with Stephen Lewis and Daltron Camp or Peter Czowski's This Country in the Morning.  At the end of his career he came to teach at Dalhousie. 

Kierans wrote an autobiography which I read.   In it, he says that when he came to Halifax,  he bought a lot in the Marlboro Woods area of Halifax on which to build a new home.  He encountered Bruce Oland after mass at Canadian Martyrs church.  Bruce, a big man, a naval commodore and brewery scion, asked him how the planning was coming for the new home.  Eric replied that he was seeking a number of quotes.  Bruce, in his commanding voice, said, more or less; "You can get as many quotes as you like, but you hire Peter Corkum!"

Peter was a wonderful man of great strength, integrity and accomplishment.

Dear Marilyn and Family: I am so sorry to hear Peter's news today. I wasin Halifax outside the food court at the Shopping center and say a man walking that I thought was Peter was about to call out when it became clear that it wasn't him. I would have liked to had talked to him. 

A couple of quick memories that I so fondly cherish is that while playing with him he would always call you after each game when we were out of town . If we successful the news was I Won, while the other response would be  WE LOST. 

In1992 i meet Peter for the first time as an opponent in the final Game of the Provincial Seniors . It was in Bridgewater and Ivan and I was in our first. Great gmae with the rink packed but peter got the best of us. The next year we were with him as well as another year after. These years were remarkable for me and will always be proud to have played with him. The Curling World had a Great Ambassador in PETER CORKUM
