Born in Calgary, Alberta, Penny moved to Nova Scotia in 1999 to marry the love of her life, Glenn. Penny had a deep love for Nova Scotia, its coastline and beaches and the many wonderful friends she made over the years. She maintained her love for her Alberta home and the majestic Rockies she visited and skied on so often while growing up.
Penny was always modest and never looked for the limelight. Yet, she deeply touched so many people on a very personal level as she traveled the world with Glenn. Penny’s kindness and gentleness had a huge impact on those she met throughout her life.
Penny worked in the Hospitality business for many years and finished her career with Pacrim Hospitality Services working alongside Glenn and sharing her passion for customer service and the highest of standards in everything she did.
Penny loved children and was at her happiest when she was with young children and small animals. She loved cats and would spend hours with the rabbits when she visited White Point. Penny’s maiden name was Hehr so it was natural that one of her nicknames was Bunny.
In keeping with her love of children, Penny was devoted to Give Kids The World Village in Orlando Florida, where children with life threatening diseases are able to visit and stay while having their Disney World visit wish fulfilled. Penny was at her happiest when serving Ice Cream for breakfast for the Kids or operating the Merry Go Round.
Penny was always there to Support The Pacrim Golf Tournament for GKTW and the TEAM dinner and fundraiser for Mount Saint Vincent University Hospitality Program. She gave freely and took great satisfaction for her charitable endeavors.
Penny and Glenn were blessed to travel the world together and have the opportunity to meet numerous people in the Hospitality Industry who became lifelong friends. She particularly Loved the IHG Owners Association and the spouses of many members who shared many experiences and memories together.
Penny is survived by her husband Glenn, mother Lois Hudson, Calgary, sister Susan Hehr , Calgary and brother Steven Hehr ( Janet) Edmonton. Steps sons John Squires ( Robin) Halifax and Stephen Squires ( Patricia), Halifax and four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jessica, Evey and Tessa.
