It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Nancy Gray of Halifax. Daughter of the late Richard Robson and Hilda Robson, Nancy was born July 12, 1912, in the village of High Spen in England. She was educated at a private convent school and then attended teacher training school. She taught at several schools in England until her marriage in 1938, and then resumed teaching in 1960 until the death of her husband Norman Gray in 1966. Nancy had two daughters, Angela and Pamela, both of whom, sadly, predeceased her. Nancy moved to Canada in 1983 to join her daughter Pamela and son-in-law Brian Penney. When Pamela died of ALS in April 2012, Nancy continued living with her son-in-law Brian and they were joined by Brian’s sister Angela Talebli who provided wonderful care for Nancy until she died at the age of 101.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. There will be a reception for family and friends at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home on Windsor Street on Tuesday, September 3, 2012 between 4 – 6 p.m. At Nancy’s expressed wish the funeral service will be private to immediate family. In memory of her late daughter Pamela, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia.
