Age 92, Timberlea.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother/Grandmother/Great-Grandmother/Great-Great Grandmother, Myrtle (Pink) Swinimer on Monday, July 25th, 2022 in the QEII Hospital, Halifax. Born April 30th, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Curtis Frederick and Edith May (Carmichael) Robarts. She was predeceased by the love of her life Lewis William Swinimer; son Charles Swinimer; brothers Stewart Robarts, Reginald Robarts, William Robarts, Donald Robarts; and sister, Margaret (Molly) Logan.
She is survived by her children Edith/Bunny MacKenzie, William/Bill (Juanita, Fiancé) Swinimer, Kenneth/Buzz (Cindy) Swinimer, Pauline (Jim) Scallion, Walter/Timmy (Liz) Swinimer and Angela (Craig) Botterill; her grandchildren, Tracy, Billy, Tyler, Trina, Jayson, Jaymie, Tanya, Tara Lea, Kim, Tamara, Andrew, Kristen, Curtis, Michelle & Taylor, as well as 28 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brothers Colin Robarts, Carl Robarts & Dale Robarts
Pink was born in Windsor, NS. She moved to Halifax in the 1940’s, where she worked at Moirs Chocolate Factory and met her husband. They began their family and as each subsequent generation was born Pink’s love for her children and their growing families made her our Heart, Soul, Matriarch! She was proud of how diverse her family became, calling us her own United Nations/Rainbow family. She enjoyed attending family events, her grandchildren’s birthdays, and Boxing day when her entire family would be together each year, from her children to her great-great-grandchildren. This is when she was the happiest - when she had them all together. Everyone who met Pink fell in love with her. Her quick wit and humor won them over every time. She could make anyone laugh.
Pink had requested that we be colourful, so we are asking that something cheerful be worn happy in celebration of “PINK” at the service.
The family would like to thank the wonderful medical team and Nurse “T” at the QEII emergency department for their excellent care and compassion.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 28th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St, Halifax. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 29th at 1:00pm at the same location, with the Rt. Rev. Craig Botterill, Q.C. officiating.
Private interment to follow.
