A beautiful soul taken too soon. Melissa Stainton passed away peacefully on Thursday 10th November, with her family by her side, after a short but intense battle with Melanoma. She had just celebrated her 44th birthday.
Melissa was an amazing mother to Cortez, cherished daughter of John and Marlene (deceased), loving sister to Jennifer (Kevin), Andrew and Ashley and auntie to Liam, Rowen and Scarlette. She will be greatly missed and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family and numerous friends, who were like family.
Melissa had a gift for connecting with others, a calming presence that drew you in. She was passionate about nature conservation, animal welfare and sea life. You would often hear her talk about her garden, the vegetables she was growing or plants she had added to attract wildlife.
Above all, Melissa’s pride and joy was her son Cortez. Fiercely independent, she had begun to build a wonderful life for them. Her ambition, drive and fight until the end was all for him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at JA Snow Funeral Home Saturday 19th November, from 2-5pm, with reflections and positive stories shared at 3pm. In honour of Melissa, we invite you to come dressed in her favourite colour, blue.
Memorial contributions to Melanoma Canada (https://www.melanomanetwork.ca) or the World Wildlife Fund (https://wwf.ca/donate/) would be greatly appreciated.
