Mary Elizabeth (Foster) Worth of Halifax passed away at Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home on October 2, 2011. Born in Fredericton on September 20, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Norman Isaac and Martha Ann (Steeves) Foster. Mary was a certified pharmacy clerk and worked for many years at Lorne Pharmacy and McQuinn’s Pharmacy in Halifax. She was a life-long member of West End United Baptist Church.
Mary will be sadly missed by her children, Peter (Wendy), Riverview, NB, Gary (Vivian), Mineville, NS and Ann Keddy (Richard) of Halifax, NS; grandchildren Andrew, Daniel, Neil, Jeffrey and David; great grandchildren Nicholas, Colby, Garret and Laura; step-grandchildren Karla Pooley and Jennifer Rodriguez; Marion Taylor and Marilyn More; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph A. Worth (July, 1994) and sisters Margaret and Norma.
Mary was devoted to both her direct and extended family and took great pleasure in their achievements, well-being and happiness. She enjoyed camping, walking, reading, crosswords, cooking, baking, sewing and knitting. Mary will be especially remembered for her warm smile and sense of humour and concern for others.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mountbatten Assisted Living and Saint Vincent’s Nursing Home for their caring devotion towards our mother.
A memorial service and reception will be held at West End United Baptist Church on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
