RYAN, MARY ALICE passed peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the Halifax Infirmary. Born February 26, 1937, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary (Gillis) Hines. Mom lived a life filled with love, laughter, generosity and compassion. She was a constant example of a life dedicated to family and friends, and loved to have us gathered in her home for a chat, a laugh, and a cup of tea. She was a guiding example to us all of the power of love, the importance of forgiveness and the strength derived from faith and hope. Mom lived her Christian beliefs and opened her heart and home to family, friends and strangers when they needed the comfort of a loving and supportive home. She will be sorely missed by all of us who loved her. Survived by daughter, Catherine (Stanhope PEI); son, Joseph (Halifax) and grandchildren, Meaghan, Joshua and Zachary; nieces and nephews, Janet (Chris) Wickstrom, Dan (Debbie) Smith, John (Kelly) Smith, Andrew (Heather)Smith, Jennifer (Nina) Smith, Suzie (Bob) Wilson, Steven (Julie) Hines, Martin (Janice) Hines and her many ‘Ryan’ nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was proud to welcome into the family Tracy Doucette, Marie Vaagen and Charlene Gillis.
