I am very saddened to learn of Mary’s passing and send my condolences to her family. Mary and I were close friends in Lexington, Kentucky during the 1960’s,  both playing the viola in our high school orchestra and the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra. I will always remember her talent and love of music and the special kindness and humor she brought to my life.

Our mum and Mary became great friends as neighbours in their apartment building.  You never knew whose  turn it was to make tea and have a bite of lunch.  Or quite often when visiting my mum, Mary’s piano could be heard as she taught another student, the art of making sweet music.
My favourite times with Mary were when she and I and my sister would scoot out for lunch.  She always kept in touch with me, especially with my mum’s passing.  She loved her sweet grandchildren.  
I’m going to miss your sense of humour, talking about dachshunds, and trying to decide where to go for lunch.  Oh and the sweet doll clothes you made.  Just that, being kind, and a friend.

My first memory of Mary was when we were sitting in the hallway at the Cohn  in 1988, waiting to audition for a sub position with SNS and discovering that we both had studied viola at Oberlin Conservatory with the same teacher! (Mary later transferred to Indiana)When my husband and I were faced with our first Nova Scotia winter and two small kids, she gave us her boys outgrown snow suits to keep them warm! I will always remember her kindness, sense of humour(even with her more recent health challenges), and holiday meals.She often talked about her grand-daughters and had her apartment set up with them in mind for their occasional visits. Our hearts are with you as you mourn the loss of your dear Mom.  We shared so many good times, especially in the early years, when our families would get together and the kids would have fun playing and running around.  Mary was always a fabulous host, a great cook and a kind and good friend.  We will always have happy memories of Mary and hope you will always smile when you think of her.



We did not see enough of our cousin Mary, but she was a unique and caring character.  I will always remember she came all the way to my wedding so many years ago... and I to hers in California.  We had some very special visits in NY, the last one being to Florida.  She always had ideas, and enjoyed the little things, not fancy but very real.  A very nice lady, I am sure she will be missed by her sons and grandchildren. Rest in peace Mary,

Very sorry to see this news. Mary was my stand partner in the Atlantic Symphony when I first moved to Halifax. We had some very funny times together. My sincere condolences to Mike and Henry and families. 

Mary was our neighbor, work colleague, and friend for many years. I remember hosting a baby shower for her and we managed to keep it a secret but then needed to figure out how to get her there. I called her with some excuse of a plumbing emergency and she arrived at our house with at least two plungers and a bucket or two! We shared lots of quilting and cooking time together in our young adult years. Rest In Peace, Mary.

This memento is left to the family of our apartment neighbour, Mary.  She always had a kind word as we passed each other in the elevator or on Level Three at 76 Prestwick. So sorry to hear of Mary’s passing. I met Mary two years ago through a mutual friend. I visited her weekly for piano lessons. She had great patience and always challenged me to be the best I could. I will miss her terribly. Sleep well my dear friend.
