CLARE, Mary Catherine (Cathy) – of Halifax, passed away peacefully May 17, 2012 on her 73rd birthday, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre (Halifax Infirmary) as a result of a stroke. Survived by her husband of almost 48 years, David Clare and three sons, Patrick (Debbie) of Halifax, Bryan of Halton Hills, Ontario and Terry (Brenda) of Elmira, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents, Beresford and Maxine (Wilson) Nichols of Sydney and her younger brother David B. Nichols. Remembered by nephews and niece Andrew, Graham and Leslie Nichols. She attended Argyle, and Central School and was a graduate of Sydney Academy, Mount Allison University and the University of Toronto, Cathy was a librarian through much of the 1960’s until she chose to stay at home to raise her family. She enjoyed creative arts and traveling. Cathy will be remembered for her love of animals, her humor and her drive to enjoy life often saying: “I’m here for a good time, not a long time.” The family will receive visitors at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax Saturday, May 19, 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral service Sunday, May 20, 2:00pm.
