The "Tribute Video" is simply beautiful, marking all the milestones in Irene's life.   She smiled throughout, and her hair was always done.  The grandkids are so very close to her - it must be so painful to have lost their loving Grandma.   Thinking of you!

Dear Allan and family members. My sincere condolences to you in the passing of your mom, sister, cousin or friend, Irene. I always enjoyed all the great chats I’d have with Irene at Needham Pool . I also went to visit her several times at Hospice Halifax.  She was a dear friend and will be missed a lot. May she Rest In Peace.

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your mother and grandmother. She was such a sweet and kind person.  I  have wonderful memories of her from our younger years (especially our shopping trips) and more in the last  several years. I’m so grateful for the friendship that  she and my mom had and how they kept each other company. Mom is going to be lost without her.

Irene, my dear friend, I have so many memories that I will not forget.
Going to the pool three times a week, where you met our group who you enjoyed so much, especially the hugs from Dave and the potluck lunches.
Going to the monthly lunches at the Church.
Going for visits with my sister and my girls.
Our weekly shopping trips for groceries and to Lawton’s (on Wednesdays for the senior discount)
Christmas shopping at the mall for our grandchildren.
Sitting in your backyard watching the cats and birds that you made sure were fed and had clean water.  Also we  enjoyed watching the fireworks at  the Pit. 
And all the many other places we visited.
I truly don’t know how anything will ever be the same.
Rest In Peace my dear friend. I will miss you and how we laughed.

Holiday meals will not be the same without Irenes good humour and her apple pie.

I count myself as one of the truly lucky ones to have had my Cousin Irene in my family's life when I was young.  When she first  came to Halifax to go to high school, she lived with us for a while on Robie Street in the North End.    My parents, Irene's Uncle Archie Chisholm and Aunt Kaye, my younger brother Graham, my little sister Ellen and I  came to know and cherish this kind, gentle woman with the beautiful smile and easy, good natured laughter.  I can still hear her voice telling me  "dear little Ellie" stories.      When I see the wonderful pictures of Irene with her brothers and sisters and their famlies; with Wilson, their son Allen, his wife and children, I see  more joy and love; truly a life well lived. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Irene.  I knew Irene from the Needham Pool aquasize class that she attended regularly with her close friend, Betty.   She was always quick to smile and laugh, and was a gentle, kind soul.   We will all miss seeing her at the pool.  

My aunt “Renee” was a woman who had smiles to brighten your days, who always made you feel good with her warm words of praise.  May the winds of Heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear how much we love and miss you and wish that you were here.

Auntie Irene ('Rene), as my Godmother and as the eldest of my Father's younger sisters, played a major role in my life over the ears. 'Rene's Halifax home was always my Father's family's reciprocal base of operations for our regular visits from Hadleyville to the city and for The Browns visits to Hadleyville over the years. Her and Wilson's home was always open for us in Halifax, and abundant delicious meals, boundless conversations, and many a sound night's sleep were enjoyed under their roof.

The seven years of my post-secondary education that were undertaken in Halifax universities, as well as my time in hospital in the city, were made all the more enjoyable and rewarding via the supports and reassurances manifest via 'Rene and her family's boundless generosity. The frequent Via Rail, Acadian Lines bus trips, and automobile journeys  to and from Halifax "In the day" were made so much easier via knowing that The Browns awaited one at destination's end. I often assumed that it was just a coincidence that the offices of Montague and Co. Realty just happened to be virtually located next door to the former Acadian Lines' bus terminal in Halifax, but knowing 'Rene's generosity to family and friends, sometimes I did wonder. . .

'Rene's giving nature seemed to know no bounds. If one was with her in Halifax, Hadleyville, or in South Brook, those in her company always seemed to come first. Kitties and Doggies always seemed to sense this, and 'Rene made many a lifelong furry friendship with any pet who was fortunate enough to share in her presence. Such a remarkable woman shall be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Until we meet again 'Rene. God bless.

We all knew Irene through Betty ,bringing lrene to Needham Aqua  fit classes. Irene had a great sense of humour,and even would share funnies about herself.We grew to love her,we could see she was a special person.Thank you for the Beautiful video of her ,her husband and family life.It meant a lot to those of us that met her a few years ago.
Her son and wife and  grandchildren,along with her family members,we knew were her heart.
Irene taught us about living and loving,a very classy lady.She will be missed at NEEDHAM CENTER,thank you to the family and Betty for introducing us to a beautiful soul. GOD BLESS

Margaret knew Irene from Vocational School days in Halifax.  Irene was one of the sweetest people we ever met.  We always enjoyed our visit to her cozy home over the Christmas holidays.  Irene was strong to live out her final days at QEII and Hospice Halifax.  
Alan, Kylie, Zach, and Maren - our deepest sympathy for the loss of  your loving Mother and Grandmother.  She will always be a part of  you.  May she rest in peace.   She will never be forgotten.

Alan and family:    So sorry to read of Irene's passing.  She and your Dad were always so helpful to me with the Brown Family Tree.  Will forever remember the stories they passed along.  Remembered with love.  

'Reene as we often called her, was my Aunt.  My wife and I lived in Halifax for a while during my navy days.  Aunt Irene (Reene) was always so kind to us - when we first moved, she made us dinner and a great dessert.  She opened her home, and was always there for us - as well as many a stray cat :) 

We will miss her and her kindness and gentle nature.  Gone but never forgotten.
