Mary Robena Arthur

Age 81, of Bedford, NS formerly of New Glasgow went to be with her Lord and Saviour on December 30, 2019. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Rev. David Arthur; her two daughters Colleen Arthur and Nancy (Alfred) Kunz; grandchildren David (Kimberly) Cahill and Lindsay Cahill; brothers Robert, Stan, and David Christie. She was predeceased by her parents John and Edith Christie, brother John, and sister June (John) Dorrington.

Early in her life, she worked in banking before spending the next number of years creating a nurturing home for her family where everyone who entered was welcomed and served a beautiful meal. She embodied hospitality and made it all look effortless. After raising her family, she studied and graduated from Eastern Pentecostal Bible College. She then spent a number of years travelling with her husband ministering together throughout the Maritimes. During her many years of working full time in the Pastoral Care Ministry, she was known for her wisdom and Godly counsel. Robena had a heart of compassion. She was a prayer warrior and only Heaven will reveal the number of hurting and broken hearts that found a loving embrace and acceptance while spending time with her. She had a love of music her whole life and we are blessed to have memories of our home filled with the sounds of her singing and playing the piano. She set the bar high for herself her whole life and has done it all with grace and dignity. Her life and how she lived it is a legacy that those who love her will carry always in our hearts.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 7-9pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 2pm at Full Gospel Church, 2256 Larry Uteck Blvd., Bedford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Halifax, 618 Francklyn Street, Halifax, NS B3H 3B4, or a charity of your choice.
