Age 89, of Halifax, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2017 in the QEII following a brief illness. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence (Boyce) Laidlaw.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Greg) Walsh and son, Ted (Jeanie) Hadley and sister, Claire (Bud) Martin.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Arnold Wesley Hadley, six sisters: Margaret, Edith, Marie, Dorothy, Tommy (Florence), Barbara and two brothers, Ralph and Jimmy.
She was a homemaker (she made the best apple pie and tea biscuits) and her whole life was devoted to her family. She was “Nanny” to her five grandchildren, Gillian, Tara, Lori, Erin and Christopher and nine great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Brayden, Noah, Logan, Molly, Isabelle, Matthieu, Brady and Anna all of whom she loved dearly.
At Marion's request, there will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Saint Agnes Church on Mumford Road officiated by the Very Reverend Duncan MacMaster. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be a reception in the church hall following the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the IWK Foundation.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the IMC Unit and the Plastic Surgery Unit at the QEII for their care and compassion.
