My name is Marie Althea Snow (Colp) and I was born in Bayport, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia on March 9, 1920 to Hector Colp and Theresa Mossman. I grew up with my colorful sister Venita (White) and my brother Bruce Colp. I milked cows before going to school, I fished, I pulled potatoes from the field and then the country mouse moved to the city.
Most of my friends have gone on before me but I collected many great friends from my work in the phone room at Sears, from the couples I met through “The Fifty Club”, and through playing bridge and my casino outings. I made many enduring relationships with my neighbours back on Dublin Street, where I lived until I was 93. I enjoyed “mothering” my children’s friends who always kept in touch and visited me often, as well as the children of many of my friends.
I hung in there as long as I could, 98 years, 4 months and 7 days for my children: Greg Snow, Roxanne Snow and Krista Snow (Rusty Goodman, Toronto), as well as my grandchildren Amy and Ryan Bullerwell, who I was so proud of. Part of my soul will linger on in Bayport, up in “The Land” of my devoted niece, Carolyn Rose.
And now I join my husband, Clyde Edwin Snow who has been waiting patiently for me since 1991. I no longer have to miss him.
I have had a lot of fun here, but travel on I must. If you look for me or call my name, unlock your heart and you will find me waiting there. I will live on in the hearts and minds of those I adored as well as in their nuts and bolts recipes, forest Christmas trees, every little piece of note paper you write, and every dining table that is set way too far in advance.
