It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of Marie (Hage) Haddad. She peacefully passed away on March 25th, 2023 at the age of 91 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, surrounded by loved ones.
She is survived by her children Mounir (Abriza) Haddad, Sonia (Elias) Bou-Karam, Philippe (Samira) Haddad, and Zead (Jamale) Haddad, as well as her brothers Abdou (Rose) Hage and Maroun (Catherine) Hage. She is forever remembered by her loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family in Lebanon and beyond.
She was predeceased by her husband, Abdou Fares Haddad, her parents Roukoz Hage and Nazira Hobeika, her brother Khalil (Noel) Hage, and her sisters Martha (Salim) Saloumi and Shams Hage.
Born and raised in Naher-Baskinta, Lebanon, Marie loved gardening and showcasing her florals in front of her home. Marie and her husband immigrated to Canada in 1976 where they bought a house and grocery store in the North End of Halifax. Marie ran the day-to-day operations of the business while raising her family. They spent three years in Halifax before deciding to move back to their hometown in Lebanon. After the passing of her husband in 2008, she returned to Halifax, where she was surrounded by her loving children and their growing families.
Throughout her 91 years, Marie was known for her gentle and calm demeanor, her strength, her love, and her unwavering faith. Her greatest joy was raising her family with unconditional love from generation to generation. She will be greatly missed but her teachings will remain at the forefront of our family.
We are grateful to the doctors and nurses at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital who cared for her and kept her comfortable.
