MILLEDGE (Stanbury), Margaret Suzanne — Passed away peacefully on Friday, November 16th, 2012, at the age of 88, surrounded by loving family. "Margie" was born in Halifax on April 19, 1924, the much-loved youngest of seven children of Harvey and Gertrude (Knight) Stanbury. Margie married John Milledge in St. Thomas Aquinas Church on June 21, 1945, and they moved soon afterward to Montreal, where first son Robert was born. John and Margie's love story continued in Halifax, and happy family memories abound from those years. Through ups and downs, Margie cheerfully celebrated and encouraged all her children and they, in turn, adored her. Although devout, Margie's loving ways did not begin and end at the church door. Margie was full-time supportive, spontaneous, flamboyant, fun, gregarious and genteel, all at the same time. Margie's enthusiasm, spontaneity, wit, and especially the warmth of her hugs, live on in her sons, daughters, and great-grandchildren. Vivacious, beautiful, listening, caring; Margie had a radiant smile, and was completely unselfish in her love of family and friends. Margie could often be heard singing, and a suitable memorial to her love of music is the music room at her alma mater, Halifax' Sacred Heart Convent. She was predeceased by her husband, John Reuben Milledge, of England and Montreal; sons, Robert Norman (Bob), and John Anthony (Tony); brothers Whitworth, twins Norman and Rockliffe, John, James, and sister, Mary (Stanbury) Bethune. Margie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Milledge (Cindy Sceviour), Ottawa; Mary Lynne (Hugh) MacKay, Indian Point; Suzanne Milledge (Jay Abbass), Halifax; Christine (Dr. David) Fingard, Marco Island, Fla.; Judy (Bruce) Campbell, Fall River; and brothers, Kevin (Heather Cole), Vancouver, and Eric (Barbara Doyle), Marco Island, Fla.; grandchildren Sarah Lynne, Elizabeth, Angela, Jennifer, Christine, Kimberly, Stephanie, Danica, Tess, Haley, Neil, Kevin, Michael Fingard, Michael Milledge; great-grandchildren Gavin, Nicholas, Christian, Desmond, Lydia and Jevin; brothers-in-law Father Anthony Milledge SJ, Matigara, India; Frank Milledge, Victoria; and several much-loved nieces and nephews. Although her memory failed her in Margie's latter years, our own loving memories of Margie will not fade. The family would like to thank especially caregivers Charlotte Cox, Joanna Hazeldine, and Mel Clory, who cared for Margie in her home. The family is grateful as well to Tammy, Carole-Ann, Paul, and all their colleagues at Arborstone. Visitation will take place in Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home (formerly Snow's), 2666 Windsor St., Tuesday, November 20th, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass Wednesday, November 21st, at 11a.m., Canadian Martyrs Parish, 5900 Inglis Street, Halifax, celebrant Father Mark Cherry, reception to follow on site.
