Margaret Anne Metlej, April 24, 1944. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Anne Metlej, 75, who passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the Halifax Victoria General Hospital.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband and soulmate, John Metlej, who never left her side in over 50 years of marriage. She will be immensely missed by her 5 children: Theresa (Sleiman) Ghosn, Nancy (Tony) Bou-Nassif, Joe (Vanessa), Judy, and Susie (Elie) Abi Yaghi; and 10 grandchildren: Sadie, Christina, Jacob, Miguel, Bryana, John, Matthew, Joey, Zeina, and Alana and many nieces and nephews in Halifax and Lebanon. She is predeceased by her parents; Youseef and Anjoul Ramia, her siblings; John, Louis, Anthony, and Helena.
Margaret was born in Diman, Lebanon and immigrated to Halifax in 1965 where she met and married the love of her life, John, with whom she raised her beautiful family. Margaret was a woman of strong faith and religion. She loved to travel and always looked forward to her annual trip to Sainte Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica, where she visited just this past summer. She enjoyed spending summertime caring for her impressive garden and wintertime by the wood stove surrounded by her big, loving family. She overcame many health challenges that came her way through the years. We found inspiration and strength in her devotion to her faith and to us. She lit up every room and left a special mark on everyone that met her. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow in knowing our family is today without its Queen, but we take comfort in knowing she is at peace.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 4-8 pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive and funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 10, 11 am at Our Lady of Lebanon Parish, 3844 Joseph Howe Drive officiated by Msgr. Pierre Azzi and Msgr. Kheirallah Aoukar.
We want to thank the dialysis unit team at the Dickson Centre in Halifax for their 8 years of support and care for Margaret. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Parish.
