Leona Jean Payette

Payette, Leona Jean, 72 of Halifax. With great sadness, Leona left us on February 26, 2014 in the QEII Hospital after a courageous seven-year battle with COPD. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of Gertrude E. (Corkum) and George B. McDow. Throughout her life she enjoyed travel, fashion, and style, but her garden, flowers, and family brought her the most joy. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Marcel P. Payette, daughters Donna Duggan and Yolaine Wellings, grandchildren "Nannies Angels" Nicholas Duggan, Cayla Duggan, Mona Al-Taha, and Arianna Wellings, and great-grandson Zaid. Leona was predeceased by her sister Mildred (McDow) Cooper. The family wishes to thank the wonderful medical team at the QEII 8.4 Unit, with special thanks to Honey and Dr. Bussey for their care and compassion in the last few weeks of her final journey. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 4th at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM. Funeral service to be held Wednesday, March 5th at 1 PM at the same location. Rev. Fred Snyder officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association.
