THOMAS, Laurie E. “Gaetz” – 78, passed away in the Halifax Infirmary after a brief illness. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Amos and Alice (Jollimore) Thomas. He is survived by his children Lynn (Rob) Steeves, Timberlea and Scott (Tim) Thomas, Halifax and two grandsons Andrew and Adam Steeves. He is also survived by brothers Bruce (Elizabeth), Terry (Lorna), Wayne (Mary) and Paul (Debby) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy (Johnson) in 2003, a son in infancy and brothers Murray, Ross, and Bill. He was a commercial traveler for Red Rose Tea and Stuart House Canada, traveling mainland Nova Scotia from one end to the other. After retiring he joined Casino Taxi where he worked for a number of years, finally retiring again in 2008. Cremation has taken place with visitation taking place at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax on Saturday, October 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 24th at Bethany United Church. Thanks to be staff of 6.1 IMCU at the Halifax Infirmary for making his last days as comfortable as possible.
