Laura graduated from Sir John A MacDonald high school in 1998, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saint Mary’s University in 2011 and an HR Certificate from NSCC in 2013. Laura was a bartender and server in Halifax for many years; if you worked in or frequented a trendy downtown bar or restaurant during the late 90s and 2000s, you probably knew her.
Laura was a tremendous athlete in her youth. She played A soccer and was a tough opponent on the volleyball court.
Laura had many health complications, including Type 1 Diabetes, but no matter how sick she got, her sense of humour and strength never wavered. She handled her health issues with grace and dignity. Special thanks goes to our mom, Pat Donahoe, who tirelessly took amazing care of Laura for years during her illness and Dr. Maria Lang for going above and beyond for Laura over the years.
Laura is survived by her mother, Patricia Donahoe, of Halifax, father, Brian Cainey, Michigan, sister, Meghan, Halifax, a special Aunt and Uncle, Pat & Chris Donahoe, Dartmouth, Aunt Jane Donahoe, Mississauga, Aunt Karen Cainey, Sackville, as well as many cousins, with whom she was very close. She was pre-deceased by her Uncle Mike Cainey and her grandparents.
Visitation will take place from 3:00-6:00pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Snow’s funeral home located at 339 Lacewood Drive in Clayton Park.
