It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kyle. After a short battle with cancer, Kyle peacefully passed away at the Victoria General, with his family by his side and is now at peace.
Everyday Kyle will be missed by his mom,Debbie Courtney-Ward, dad and stepmom, Wayne Ward and Margaret Phillips, his big sister and best friend Ashley, and stepsisters Kayleigh (Kaleb Murphy), and Emma Hill.
His extended family will miss him dearly as well, his maternal grandparents Joyce, and Doug Courtney. Parental grandparents Bob and Shari Ward, Eleanor and Irwin Gaudett, as well as many uncles, aunts’ cousins and also his new little niece.
Kyle made many friends wherever he went. He was employed at DASC in Dartmouth for many years. He was a very active athlete with the Sackville/Bedford Special Olympics. Winning many medals and ribbons over the years for bowling and track and field. Kyle could be seen laughing, smiling and carrying on with everyone he met. As a huge NASCAR fan, everything was Jeff Gordon #24 until he retired, but that didn’t stop him from watching the races. Kyle actually received a note of encouragement from a NASCAR driver, Tony Stewart, while in the hospital, which meant the world to him. When not watching a race Kyle would be following his Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays, win or lose. Kyle also loved to play video games and listen to music while always picking on his big sister, whom he loved very much.
We would like to thank all the staff both at the QE2 and Victoria General for all there kindness and support.
Kyle will be forever loved and missed dearly, a true angel that has gained his wings. In lieu of flowers the family request a donation in Kyle’s name to Sackville/Bedford Special Olympics or Canadian Cancer Society.
A Celebration of Life for Kyle will take place Saturday November 19th 2pm-5pm, at Cruikshank’s Halifax funeral home 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax.
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
So he put His arms around you
And whispered “Come to me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn’t make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
