Kenneth Joseph Fellows

FELLOWS, Kenneth Joseph – 78, of Halifax. We announce with sadness the death of Kenneth on December 31, 2012 at his home in Halifax, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Frederick and Margaret (Cahill) Fellows. Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Marie (Corbett) Fellows; sons: Joseph (Nancy) of Milton, Ontario; David of Halifax; daughters: Mary Fellows and Patricia Fellows of Halifax; seven grandchildren Noel, Sarah, Matthew, Patrick, Daniel, Thomas and Catherine. Ken is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Coline (Corbett) MacDonald and her husband, Ronald of Napean, Ontario, Gladys (Dee) Fellows of Toronto, Ontario, and his brother-in-law John Corbett and his wife, Marilyn of Halifax.

He was predeceased by his brothers: Noel of Halifax, Paul of Toronto, Ontario, and Frederick of Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Ken attended College Street School, St. Mary’s High School and graduated from St. Mary’s University with a commerce degree. He had a distinguished career at Revenue Canada for 35 years, retiring as Chief of Business Audit in 1990. Ken was a member of the Charitable Irish Society. He was an avid golfer and a member of Ashburn Golf Club for over 40 years. Until age 65, Kenneth played hockey on Saturday afternoons with his friends at St. Mary’s Rink. Family life was very important to Ken and it is this endearing quality that will be forever cherished by his family. The family would like to thank his family doctor, Dr. Stephen Gibbon, the Palliative Care Team as well as the VON for their exceptional kindness and attentiveness. Cremation has taken place. The memorial mass will be held on Friday, January 4th at 10:00am at St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Road, Halifax. Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hope Cottage or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax.
