It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Malcom Bottomley, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left us on Oct. 18, 2024, at the age of 73. Keith’s love for sports was only surpassed by his deep love for his family, leaving a lasting mark on all who knew him.
Keith dedicated many years to the world of sports, excelling in racquetball and handball, where he became a national champion. He also achieved the impressive feat of two hole-in-ones during his time on the golf course. He was a passionate hockey player and devoted coach, guiding his son Matthew’s hockey teams with enthusiasm. Beyond his athletic pursuits, he was also a skilled pool and card shark, bringing laughter and camaraderie to every gathering.
Professionally, Keith dedicated 35 years to Canada Post, and previously worked with the Canadian National Railway. His work ethic and commitment to his colleagues were a testament to his character.
Keith was a devoted partner to his beautiful wife, Cindi, for 51 wonderful years, sharing a life filled with love and laughter during their 40 years of marriage. He was a cherished father to Matthew and Kimberley and took great pride in the strong, kind and resilient individuals they have become. Keith was a loving brother to three siblings. His family also included several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom benefited from his support. They all loved their Uncle Keith very much and looked forward to his stories and jokes.
He created countless memories at the family cottage in Mount Uniacke, where he enjoyed time with loved ones, spent hours on the water, and shared his passion for waterskiing with the younger generations.
Keith’s greatest joy came from spending time with friends and family. He had a unique ability to look at the positive side of difficult situations, inspiring those around him to find hope and joy in everyday life.
Keith was predeceased by his mother Constance and his father Donald. He was survived by his wife Cindi, son Matthew, daughter Kimberley (Jeffrey), brothers James (Cheryl), Robert (May) and Wayne, sister-in-law Wendy, brother-in-law Pierre and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Rest in peace, Keith. Your legacy of love, laughter, and sportsmanship will forever live on in our hearts.
Keith will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Keith’s life will be held on Friday, Oct. 25 at 10:00 a.m. at J.A Snow Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to Defeat Multiple System Atrophy or KidSport Nova Scotia in his memory.
