Karen Laverne Carpenter

Carpenter, Karen Laverne, age 61 of Halifax, passed away January 22, 2014, in the Halifax Infirmary QEII. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Avery and Pearl (MacDonald) Gerrard. Karen was a caregiver/volunteer to mentally challenged adults and went on to become a home care worker with Northwood. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her family. She is survived by daughters, Barb Parker, Kim Parker; sisters, Darlene (Robert) Taylor, and Gail Gerrard; brothers, Derrick, Brian, Keith, and Darryl; grandsons, Derek, Paul, Marc-Andre, Angelo, and Deonte. Karen was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Taylor.

Visitation/reception will be from 12 – 1 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2014, in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street; where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
