June Aureta (Mullen) Hanley, 86, of Halifax, peacefully slipped away into the presence of the Lord on Monday. Born in the Boston area, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Jessie (Wile) Mullen. Widowed at an early age, she selflessly raised her three children, and her greatest pride was being a wife and mother. Her strong Christian faith sustained her throughout her life. Mom was a great prayer warrior, and when she prayed, things happened. She looked forward to spending her summers at her cottage on Ponhook Lake, and considered it her personal paradise. Mom was also an accomplished pastel artist and avid gardener. She is survived by children Gary Hanley (Laurene), Wendy Hanley, and Lester Hanley (Darlene); sisters Glenna Hope (Philip) and Prenetta Thompson (Peter, deceased); grandchildren Drew Hanley, Tim Hanley, and Katie Hanley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Russell, after 21 years of marriage, a sister Rachel Mullen, and grandson Brent Hanley. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17th, from 6-8pm at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral service 2 pm Friday, January 18th at Faith Tabernacle on the corner of Windsor St. and Summit St. Private interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Bible Society, World Vision or Chosen People Ministries. Online condolences please visit: www.cruikshankhalifaxfuneralhome.com
