It is with great sadness that the family of Judy Lin announces her passing on March 18, 2019. She left us shortly after celebrating her 77th birthday with her family by her side in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
She was predeceased by her father, Mei-Hsi Ho, mother, Jung-Mei Ho (Chiu), and brother, Cing-Chang Ho (Mei-Chih Huang).
Judy was born in 1942 in Miaoli, Taiwan and grew up in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. She attended National Taiwan Normal University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Chinese Literature. After school, she worked at Guoguang Laboratory School, National Sun Yat-sen University. Judy met and married Chang-Lu Lin and moved to Champaign-Urbana, Illinois before eventually settling in Waverley, Nova Scotia. Last year, Judy and Chang celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.
She was the loving and devoted mother of David (Lilli) Lin of Quispamsis, NB, and Edward (Pam) Lin of Ashland, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Tiffany, Adelaide, and Sabrina.
Judy enjoyed tai chi, walking, travel, music and gardening throughout her life. She maintained a home garden that produced Chinese vegetables long before they were available for purchase in Nova Scotia. She had a lifelong passion for movies and later discovered the joy of Taiwanese soap operas. Judy also volunteered at the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia as a Chinese language teacher.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of CBI Home Health who helped care for Judy for the last two and a half years. We would also like to thank the staff of the ICU (3A) and Palliative Care (7A) units at the VG who cared for her and her family with an incredible amount of compassion.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held on Monday, March 25, at the JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Halifax NS from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. Memorial donations in memory of Judy can be made to the Cobequid Community Health Centre Foundation.
