PURCELL, John (Jack) Picton Purcell – 92, formerly of High St. was called home by our Heavenly Father on Holy Saturday, April 7, 2012. Jack was a resident of Veterans Memorial Building 6W for the past 14 months. Born in Halifax to the late Joseph and Blanche (Westhaver) Purcell. Jack was a retired Meat Manager of Dominion Stores where he worked for over 42 years. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Stephen’s Church for over 65 years. He will be dearly missed by his loving niece (his caregiver), Cindy (Peter) MacDonald, their children Emily, Colin, Brennan, Scott (Cheryl), nieces Sherry (Clark) Brunelle, Gail (Jim) Kemp and Wendy (Roy) Manning. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Bob) Ranger; as well as many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife Ruth Elaine (2002), brothers Rich and Keith, and sisters Midge Dempster, Paige Norton, and Shirley Francis. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax on Tuesday, April 10th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Church (Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish) on Wednesday April 11th at 11:00am, Fr. Donald Boudreau and Fr. Gerald David officiating.
