John Gerard Beaton

Beaton, John Gerard of Halifax, age 56. It is with saddened hearts we announce the passing of John Gerard Beaton on Sunday, May 22, 2016 in the Halifax Infirmary QE II with his family by his side. Born in Inverness, C.B., he was the son of the late John Allan and Marjorie (MacDonald) Beaton.

John Gerard was a hard and dedicated worker. He loved hockey, especially the Pittsburgh Penguins, making puzzles, painting, walking and volunteering. He had a strong faith in God. John Gerard was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and good friends. We will always miss his kind heart, warm smile and firm handshake.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Marjorie of Broad Cove; sisters, Josie and Joan of Halifax, Anne of Oakville; brothers, Dougie (Angela) and Lawrence (Claire) of Broad Cove. He was predeceased by his brother Dennis. He was the proud uncle of Lauren, Sadie, Allan, Ron, James and Jada (his Godchild) and many loving cousins and devoted friends.

We are so thankful to his medical staff, Parker Street, the Salvation Army and the Metro Turning Point for their wonderful care.

Visitation will be at 9:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Church, Brunswick Street, Halifax prior to the funeral mass at 10:00 am. A burial mass will be held at a later date in Broad Cove, C.B. Charitable donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
