My fondest memory of  you Jeff........I always got a hug and a huge smile whenever  I stopped by to pick up Cathy and you always checked on us if we lingered too long at any of our outings.

My nephew brought our gift of Nanook, a Malamute, when he came to live with us for the year as he turned 18.
Memories are many.
As a wee person my fondest memory was the time I discovered he could cause chaos just by screaming. On a visit while sleeping in the family living room, I dared to close his bedroom door which brought my sister running.  
Lesson learned....I will never have kids who sleep with their door open. (Yeah, right!

The year he spent with us in 1977 was one of fun and discovery. Jody assumed the role of big brother with aplomb. He had practiced well.

My greatest joy was the time that I was able to point out to him that my life as a Red Hatter (which he had ridiculed) was similar to his choice of life riding with the Harley Davidson crew. He agreed !

Brenda.... I have only met you on a few occasions at the Fiber Fest in Amherst and at the Etsy Show, Sussex, each time inspired , not only by your creative talent, but by your warmth, youthful presence,  making everyone feel at ease.  I am Bella's mother-in-law, NB. 

I was saddened to hear of the death of your beloved son, Jeffrey.  We mums love our children so very much.  They are a gift from God.   

My thoughts are with you, Brenda and your family.... I have a hug waiting for you, when I see you next.. until then BLESSINGS.  You are a strong lady!

Cathy,   although we have only known Jeff and yourself for the past year,  you both have made it so easy for us to feel welcome and become friends.  We will be forever grateful for that opportunity.  Jeff's  quick wit and humour was always entertaining to say the least. We truly enjoyed the times spent together , whether it was riding motorcycles, eating, or playing cards,  and looked forward to many more in the future.  
Jeff's love for you  and your family was evident through the stories and pictures that you both shared with us all, and we are certain that those memories are what will help keep you strong in the days ahead. 
Jeff, I now raise a glass of  Coors Light,  (I know, you would say "You may as well drink water") to toast a friend who will forever be missed, but never forgotten!  Until we all meet again, "Cheers!"

 

Dear Cathy and family,
So very sorry to hear of Jeff’s sudden death.  You will be in our thoughts this week. Take comfort in your lasting memories.

Brenda, Cathy, Chrissy, Shelby and family,

Jeff and I began what would evolve into a treasured friendship, with a rocky start as Jeff,  the Buyer and Dorothy, the Seller in the Protein World.

It didn't take long (a week I recall) before our mutual respect was established.
And a rewarding business relationship was established. 

But Giggles followed.  So many giggles. 

Jeff  called me Dottie, a name I had insisted I would NOT be called.

Secretly, I loved it when he did.
And he did often.
Like when I posted a picture on my bicycle. 
Jeff's comment  was 
" Dottie, those wheels need an engine "

We shared laughter, food, friendship and his and his Mother Brenda's gift for vocabulary and grammar.  

How many times did I ask Jeff and Brenda for help with something I was writing?
Jeff always assured me  what a privilege it was to have been raised in a family with parents who were teachers and with sisters.

Those parenting skills were evident in Jeff's love and respect of family and friends. 
I  would have liked to have called Jeff my younger Brother. It felt like he was.

Thank you Cathy for sharing Your Jeff with all of us.
I was so grateful when you offered your seat on the Harley for a South Shore road trip for Jeff and I. Your silent message to me when I was missing those times, did not go unnoticed.

Jeff wrote the following words to me , Cathy, when I was experiencing the loss of my husband, and I am sending those beloved words back to you.
They have kept me going  and now I,
 (Jeff's Dottie) pass them on to you.

"I knew your husband through your wearing the love you shared with him on your sleeve. For a man to have made you feel so 'head-over-heels' after many years together,  we know without a doubt that the same love will see you through this."

I did not know Jeffrey very well. We were only just starting to work together and our encounters were few. That being said, I liked him and am shocked by the news of his passing, as I am sure you have been as well. I'm sad because of the opportunities to wine, dine and enjoy each others company have been lost. I will, however, remember him fondly - especially our last meeting in Ocala. We drove together - me in my car and Jeffrey on his Hog - on our way out to a meeting in Ft. McCoy. Jeffrey was kicked back on the bike, relaxed, smoking a cigar, and portraying the essence of what I later mentioned as "too cool for school." My sincerest condolences for your loss. Our world is poorer for his passing. I will miss him.

It is hard to find the words to help bring comfort at this time. 
Jody was a travel buddy to community college in Moncton, a roommate in St. Andrews, a person who made me laugh and who cared. 
There are so many stories, one even involving garlic hamburgers (unknown to Jody and I, lol) prepared by my brother Pete, fed to us before hitting the clubs in Moncton when we were staying at Pete’s place one weekend during first year at NBCC. 
We had lost touch for many years but were reconnected by chance when I took a tour of M&S in 2004. It was like we had not lost contact at all. Through his encouragement I applied at M&S and he became a coworker. He always had words of encouragement for me in my work. 
We also shared a passion for the Bruins which was always fun to carry on about through Facebook.
I also remember being at Tom’s wake standing in line to speak with family. The line was lengthy and Jody spotted me among the crowd. He stepped out of the receiving line and came right over to me to speak to me right away. He was such a gentleman and it meant so much to me that at that difficult time he would take that time to give me his undivided attention.
Memories last forever and I will always cherish the ones I was lucky to make with Jody.

I have known Jeff for many years as part of the CAFP family of food Service professionals, as part of the Halifax/Dartmouth Branch and the New Brunswick Branch. Jeff was the consummate professional and committed 110% to everything he participated in. He will always be remembered with fondness.

Jeff was a great mentor and friend to me In the early days of my career development. He really taught me a lot about the products and expectation our customers would have on me and the company. The success I have enjoyed over the years was certainly in part to what Jeff taught through his words and actions. I have thought about him a lot over the years. 


A note sent to members of The Canadian Association of Foodservice Professionals reads: Halifax/Dartmouth Branch of CAFP was very shocked and saddened to hear the news of Jeff 's far too early passing.

Jeff was on the Board of CAFP Halifax/Dartmouth and had been in the NB Branch prior to coming to Halifax. Jeff served as a VP 1998/99, President from 1999 to 2001 and Past-President/National Director from 2001 to 2004.

Jeff was valued for his friendship and leadership, always dedicated to helping others.

It’s heartbreaking to think that we’ve shared our last Orlando trip with you and your family. I am grateful to have had the time to get to know my dear friend’s awesome father. Jody was a good freind for 40 years.im so sorry and miss him.we didn't get together often anymore but kept in touch daily on Facebook.

Jeff and I, over our career, had not spent a lot of time together but I was fortunate to get to know him while supporting his business efforts in Florida.
His passion, honesty and professionalism are obvious but what set him apart are his values, warmth, humour and kindness.
Over time, we became friends. Getting together with Jeff was a treat not to be missed….even better when Cathy could join us.

Well my dear friend,  I have so many vivid memories of our times together.  What wonderful times we had. From our times living together in Moncton and then in Sackville, to our ongoing kinship, I will never ever forget our times together, they are treasures in my mind. You will always be a beacon for my soul.

I remember how you said it warmed your heart when you  saw Cathy get up and sing or dance, you knew that was her calling, how much she  loved that, and how good that made you feel. How the time in Florida, Cathy and I had a wondrous day in Celebration having a own mini party in the middle of the day, and you said in your usual patient, kind and reserved way, next time wait for me.  How you talked about your kids and your grandkids and what they meant to you, with so much reserved pride.  And your mom and I do remember those daily calls to her, what a son, you put me to shame!.    

You made me laugh, and so many of us laugh, what a spirit you had, we would spend an evening with you and think that was the most fun we ever had, can it get any better I would often think.  I don't know how many times I fell asleep thinking that exact thing, how lucky I was. What a incredible joy for life you had.  

I will miss you immensely my dear friend, and I know so many will.  I hope that those in the next world will get some time, even if it is just a little bit, to spend with you, because I know if they do, it  will always something they treasure.

I too have fond memories of Jeffery from the Judson / Federated Foods days. I will never forget the day that Eric Sloan and Jeff Trafford came to visit us in Toronto and do a plant tour at Best Western Beef.
They showed up right on time just before lunch in the biggest, blackest Lincoln Town Car you could rent at Toronto Airport.
We had a quick 15 minute whirlwind plant tour and then they took Kyle and myself to the fanciest restaurant in the area we could find for a two hour lunch... at our expence, and of course we had to be driven in Eric and Jeffery's Town Car. The smile on both their faces was a mile wide. Just two regular guys from East Coast Canada enjoying a good time in the big city of Toronto.
I am a better person for having known Jeffery Galen Trafford.

What can we possibly say ......
Phil and I believe that people cross your path and come into your lives for a reason! We will always be forever grateful that we have had the opportunity to have known Jeff and have him in our lives ! The fun and good times we have shared with Jeff and Cathy will remain strong in our hearts and memories! Sharing laughter, fun, food and great adventures will help us cope with this horrific loss we are feeling! 
He was kind, generous and always caring and thoughtful! Phil will especially miss sharing an IPA, JT’s steaks and a little bird  watching with his buddy! I will miss that wonderful smile, his quick wit , sharing “foodie” adventures and hearing his stories about family! 
Jeff was a dedicated family man above all and cherished each and every moment he got to spend with his family!  That was only one of his many wonderful qualities!

I was absolutely blown away by the news of Jeff's passing. 

It was like we were just laughing about stuff and while we never saw each other every day we did stay connected and I appreciated him for that.

Calgary is a long way from the shores of First Lake in Lower Sackville, NS but those positive memories remain close. 

Jeff I am a better person for having known you and am fortunate to have met your family. You will always remain in my thoughts. So long my maritime friend.

I met Jeff many years ago when he was with Judson Foods.  He was a great colleague and friend.  I have fond memories of our time in the foodservice industry and his knowledge, humor and professionalism will be greatly missed.

Shawna and myself are still in shock over the passing of our dear friend. We only met just over 5 years ago through our love of motorcycles, but from the first moment we met it was like we had known each other our whole lives and we wish we had met earlier. After spending lots of time together either traveling on the bikes for weeks, spending time with Cathy and Jeff at their condo in Florida,  a weekend or just hanging out for an evening, we became very close. I never seen Jeff raise his voice or get mad, but one thing was sure, he always gave his opinion and didn't shy from speaking his mind. He always talked to his mom every morning to see how she was doing and it was very seldom that he did not face time Avery and Ethan when we were away on a bike trip. He absolutely adored Cathy, Chrissy, Shelby, his mom Brenda and especially Avery and Ethan. His quick wit, generosity and his honesty will be forever remembered. We have lost a true friend and he will be greatly missed.

Cathy, Chrissy and Shelby I am so sorry for your loss, I only met this dear man a few times, but he left an impression. He was very kind, sweet and of course funny. Cathy the love and respect you had for each other was amazing, and always made me smile when I thought of how you were with each other.
 When ever I see a calendar, ( smile)  I think of him, how he would create a tribute to you and his girls by capturing all of the adventures and memories each year. I was impressed with how thoughtful and loving he was to take the time, and to share these memories. 
My heart breaks  for you, please know he will be greatly missed by everyone, who had the pleasure of meeting this special man.

I'm still in shock by Jeff's passing as he was far too young.  I first met Jeff while he was working at M&S in Moncton and I was at BIC around 2002.  Over the years, we worked together and socialized a time or two.  I always recognized Jeff's professional skill but really gained a lot of respect for his strong morals and conviction to what is right.  My deepest condolences to Jeff's family during this very difficult time and God Bless.

We got to know each other as business colleges at Federated Foods. Over the years working together Jeff became a trusted friend. He welcomed my wife Allie and I into his home and we hold fond memories of our time back then. We have maintained our friendship and just recently Jeff sent me a touching and profound message on my retirement. He referred to me as an influence on his life.  
Dear Jeff, you will forever have an impact on my life as well.  Rest in peace dear friend.
