Jeanne Eldora Langille (nee Rose), passed away quietly on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the age of 91 at the Infirmary hospital in Halifax.
Jeannie was born August 27, 1931 in Halifax to Reginald and Jeanne (Zwicker) Rose. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Burpee (Bert) Langille in 1985, and her dear brother Reginald Rose and his wife Jean Rose (Mitchell).
Jeannie leaves her nephew James Rose (Janet), nieces Anne Rose (Ian Ness), Mary Wood (Stewart) and 7 great nieces and nephews, all of Ontario and BC. She also leaves her dear friends and chosen family, Eileen Wile and Susan Slate who have lovingly provided Jeannie with support, companionship and care for many years.
Until the last few years, Jeannie spent her entire life in her beloved childhood home on Summit Street in Halifax. In 2018 she moved to the Gladstone Berkeley residence where she was doted upon by all their amazing staff and caregivers. Jeannie’s health had been in decline for the past couple of years including the on-set of dementia, but she was able to enjoy the gathering of family and friends on the occasion of 90th birthday between COVID lockdowns in 2021.
Jeannie was a lifelong member of St. Matthias Anglican Church, later the Anglican Church of the Apostles in Halifax, where she attended regularly, and presided over many a craft or tea table during holiday fundraisers and celebrations. Thank you to Father Mark Marshall for his pastoral care, and to all those in her church family for their friendship and community.
