Welsh, Jean M. – 76 of Bayside. It is with heavy hearts that the family announces that Jean (mom) has been called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the Palliative Care Unit, VG, with her family and friends by her side. Born in White’s Lake, she was the daughter of the late William Roy and Lillian Elizabeth (Morrow) Christian. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 54 years marriage, Cyril T. Welsh. Sr. and her bothers, Graham, Donald, and Roy, and her sisters, Mary Pauline Christian and Pauline Teresa Camp. She is survived by her three children, Cyril Jr. (Lauretta), Cape Breton; Roy, Greenwood; and Pamela (Maurice) Barkhouse, Bayside; grandchildren, Merrissa, Annabelle, Alex, Kayla, Sarah, and 3 great grandchildren. Lily, Aiyana, and Talia. She will be sadly missed by her very close family friends; Fred (Stacey) Walsh and Leo Walsh and family, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law, and especially her little dog, Angel, who kept her company and gave her unconditional love for the past three years. In the 1950’s Jean worked at the Motor Vehicle Branch in Halifax, then Sears Canada. During the late 1970’s she worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in the ledger’s department at the Scotia Square and Fairview branches. Jean loved being a mother and a grandmother, which she said was the best job she had during her lifetime. Jean loved to fish at White’s Lake and was usually the first one to catch a trout on April 1st every year. She loved to dance, play her favourite music and listen to Ray Hill on Seaside FM. She cherished her time with her grandchildren, her family and friends and her friends at the campground. Her stories, her strong faith in God, and her encouragement to love and forgive one another will be her legacy she leaves behind. Arrangements are under the care of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (902-455-0531) where visitation will be held on Friday, November 28 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Service and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 29 at 2:00 pm at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, Hatchet Lake with Bishop Sue Moxley officiating. Burial immediately following the service at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Prospect Bay Rd. Reception in St. Timothy’s hall following the burial. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, Hatchet Lake. The family would like to provide heartfelt thanks to all her Caregivers, VONs, Palliative Care Team and the Pastors for their sincere and loving care during her short courageous battle against cancer. A special thank you goes out to the neurosurgeons and the nurses on 7E at the Infirmary for their above and beyond care for mom during and after her surgery in May and to the doctors and nurses on 7A VG during her short stay in the Palliative Care Unit. The family would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all her family and friends and her “besties” who visited, held her up in prayer, sent flowers and cards, and provided phone call support to mom during her time of illness. Mom loved you all very much and she didn’t want to leave you behind, but she reminded us that this is not “goodbye” but “see you later”. As she puts it “I am just behind the curtain if you want to talk to me!”
God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be,
So he put His arms around her and whispered “Come with me”
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands put to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us.
He always takes the best!
