She was the daughter of the late Kate Winifred Lowe and George Richard Lowe. She was born in Sussex, West Hoathly, England. She worked in the Civil Nursing Reserve in Scotland during the Second World War and met her first husband, Harry Smith from North Sydney, Cape
Breton, who was a Private, stationed at the 3rd Canadian Division Headquarters in England.
She came to Canada in 1946 with two baby daughters on the Queen Mary 1st. And after the week long voyage she settled in Canada for the remainder of her life. She loved her family, she was a peacemaker and was loved by many. Following the passing of her husband Harry, she later married Edgar St.Clair Isnor. She was a woman of deep faith, loved The Lord and was a true inspiration to all who knew her. She was kind, compassionate, caring and very generous. She had a sense of humour that touched your heart all the way through her lifetime and it made you love her all the more. She worked for the Chronicle Herald and Mail Star for many years and later retired. She did volunteer work at Northwood and spent many hours tending to the needs of her family and making their lives so much easier. She gave from her heart and with soul to anyone who needed the help and never expected anything in return.
