DUFFETT, Henry Thornton – 82, of Halifax, passed away quietly, surrounded by family on Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the QE II Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Halifax Henry was the son of the late Malcolm Reece and Mildred (Legge) Duffett. He started work at the age of twelve at the shipyard and then went on to work at the Victoria General Hospital in 1964. His next job was HMC Dockyards where he worked as a supervisor in metal stores until his retirement in 1990. Henry loved to fish and enjoyed all things Country Western. He loved to watch The Waltons, Judge Judy and never missed an episode of Question Period with Craig Oliver at 6 pm on Saturday night. Beloved husband, devoted father and cherished grandfather, he will be remembered with love as a kind, quiet, giving man who was always there to help his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen,(Boudreau); his sons, Henry (Joanne) and Thomas (Shelagh), Halifax; sisters, Dorothy Skinner, Dartmouth, Shirley Boone, B.C; brother Layton, Ontario; Grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason (Ashley) and Hayley, Halifax; Step great-grand child Riley. He was predeceased by brothers Charlie, George, Earl and Douglas. Special thank you to Dr. Taylor and her team of doctors and the caring staff of 8.2. Visitation will be held 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, July 13 at Cruikshank's Funeral Home on 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Funeral service will be held on Thursday July 14, 11 am at Trinity Anglican Church, 321 Main Ave., Fairview, Stephen Ashton officiating. Reception to follow.
