McCORMICK, Helen Ruth (D’Entremont) – 85, Halifax, formerly of Thistle Street, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2012 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side. Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, USA, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Melanson) D’Entremont. Helen worked for many years as Supervisor Operator for MTT. Following this, Helen, along with her late husband (Eric) owned and operated McCormick’s Grocery Store in Dartmouth for 34 years and was very well-known and respected in the community. She is survived by sons Myles (Bonnie Tanner) and Michael (Donna Houlihan) both of Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Benedict Church, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Halifax on Thursday, March 8th at 10:30am. Family burial to take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Mumford Rd., Halifax. Donations may be made to The Lung Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
