HALEY, Gordon (Gord) William – 67, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2012, surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Marguerite (Little) and Gordon Leo Haley. Gord was a life member of C&PO’s/WO’s and Sgts’ Mess (Stad) and had been a member of Granite Springs, Ken-Wo, and Hartlen’s Point golf courses. He was a successful snooker player and won numerous tournaments/titles over the years. His main passion was baseball, which he played from Little League through to adulthood. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary (Bixby), cherished daughter Dawn (Robert MacLean), sister Marguerite (Harrison) O’Brien, brother Harold (Jacqueline), brother-in-law Charles Bixby, several nieces and nephews, his grandchildren Teyana and DeMarco who were the love of his life, and his grandchildren of the heart Antonio, Shawntaya, and Robert. He was predeceased by sisters-in-law Dorothy (Bixby) Gardiner and Jeanie (Bixby) Jay, and father and mother-in-law Charles and Daisy Bixby. His family was his life and he enjoyed many cherished moments with them over the years. He adored his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to boast about them. Gord was well loved by all and enjoyed tormenting everyone. Many thanks to the Home Support and Palliative Care teams who allowed us to fulfill Gord’s wishes, our fantastic neighbours/angels, and many friends who showed support to our family during Gord’s illness. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Tuesday, July 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Herring Cove Road on Wednesday, July 4th at 10:30 am, Father Frank Pellerine officiating. Cremation has taken place.
