It is with profound sadness that the family of Gordon P. (Tim) Allen Sr. announce his peaceful passing on June 7, 2024, at the age of 97 years. He was the son of the late Fredrick and Ruth (Dewolfe) Allen of Halifax.
Tim was a graduate from Saint Mary’s University, and worked for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as Regional Comptroller for the Maritimes for 31 years. He sat on the board of directors for several companies, and was also active in many community and religious projects for assisting others in need.
Tim had many hobbies and was most proud of building his summer cottage at Porter’s Lake where he happily spent many a Saturday floating in his “innertube” tied to the wharf. He loved music, walking, and was an avid woodworker, gardener, and later took up the art of rug hooking.
He is survived by his wife Norma (Edwards); sons Daniel and William; granddaughters Jennifer, Jessica, Emily and Kathleen. He is also survived by his sister Caroline (Mrs. David Conrad) and daughter-in-law Maryann Allen.
He was predeceased by his son Gordon P. Allen Jr., and by his brothers; Reginald, Fredrick, Russell, Vernon and John; and sisters Madeliene Brown, Jean Vaillancourt and Barbara Hayter.
Dementia may have taken some of Tim’s memories, but love and remembrance by others allow them to live on.
For those who knew Tim, he will be deeply missed.
