It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, on December 3rd, 2024, at the age of 97. Trudy (as she preferred to be called) was born in Halifax, the daughter of Marguerite and James Healy. She is survived by her much loved daughters, Jo-Ann Fraser and Jackie Warrington, her grandson, Mark Fraser, and great-granddaughter, Sophia Fraser, along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Lionel; sisters, Phyllis, Marguerite, Heather and brother Jimmy.
Mom was a kind, intelligent and independent woman, who loved her family dearly and took wonderful care of them. She was a great cook and loved to entertain. Many family get togethers were hosted by her and Dad. The piano was always part of any celebration and Mom was a gifted pianist, as well as a wonderful dancer. She also had lots of close friends and spent many happy times with them.
Mom loved to do the daily crossword and cryptoquote. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed the occasional game of scrabble. When the professional tennis tournaments were on television, Mom watched every game. As a teenager, she loved spending time in Hubbards and, after Dad was gone, Mom owned a trailer in the Hubbards campground for a couple of years. Eventually, she would spend her summers at her daughter’s condo, also in Hubbards. Mom was in her element there and all the neighbours loved her!
As the years passed, Mom’s memory started to fail and she moved in with Jackie. As time went on, her dementia progressed and the difficult decision was made for Mom to go into Parkstone Enhanced Care in Clayton Park. Her spirit, sense of humour and positive attitude made her very popular with the residents and staff. She attended all the social events and was affectionately known as “Trudy the Beauty”.
Our family extends our heartfelt thanks to the Nurses, CCA’s, Dietary, Recreation, Housekeepers and Reception, who were all part of Mom’s day. Special thank you to Dr. Angela Morash for her support and advice throughout the years.
Funeral Service will be held at Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Monday, December 9th, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NS or a charity of your choice.
