It is with great sorrow that the family of Gerry MacIntosh (nee Lawrence), announce that she passed away on June 2, 2017 in Halifax, at the age of 80. Born in Caribou Gold Mines on June 15, 1936, she was raised in a loving family by her sweet parents, Stuart and Ethel Lawrence.
Gerry enjoyed a rich and joyous life, full of dancing and laughter with the love of her life, Charlie MacIntosh. She was brought up with four close and caring siblings, with whom she shared many good times. She lovingly brought three grateful children into this world.
She is survived by her loving husband Charlie, her children Sandy (Debbie), Constance (Brian) and Donald (Heather), six grandchildren, Rebecca, Shannon, Brenna, Cole, Logan and Rhys, and her siblings Sylvia (Bob) Ireland, Betty (Carl) Snelgrove and Hardee (Elaine) Lawrence.
She was predeceased by her sister Constance (Ross) Hawkins. Gerry was also blessed by many nieces and nephews.
While she served briefly in the military, Gerry was most proud of her primary profession as a Certified Nursing Assistant. It took her on adventures as far away as British Columbia. There she taught herself to drive, so she could come back to Halifax fall in love with and marry Charlie on May 15, 1964. Gerry and Charlie were well known for dancing the night away at NS Bar Association Conferences, for singing their hearts out at the Legion, and for their adventures climbing volcanoes and jumping in the waves in Hawai’i.
Gerry raised strong and confident children who learned from her, the value of kindness, the power of laughter, love, and to always have food on hand to share. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Visitation for Geraldine will be held on Tuesday June 6, 2017 from 2 – 4 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Dr. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at 10am, also from J.A. Snow Funeral Home. Charitable donations in Geraldine’s memory may be made to the S.P.C.A.
