Georgena Townsend

Townsend, Georgina, 93, 1918-2012, of Halifax, formerly of Louisbourg, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in Maplestone Enhanced Care. Born in Louisbourg, she was a daughter of the Late Donald John and GladysMacIntyre. She was an active member of Edgewood United Church and a member of the church choir for many years. She spent the last six years in Victoria Hall and her family is truly greatful for the kindness and care she received from all of the staff, in particular Pam Francis. Surviving are brother, Donald (Gladys) MacIntyre, Ontario; and sister, Bernice MacLean, Albert Bridge; sister-in-law Kathleen MacIntyre, Louisbourg; Christina MacIntyre, Glace Bay, and Isabel (Phil) Bagnell, Sydney; niece Gina Michelle and great niece, Naomi, including many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her best friend, Peggy (Vernon) Toole. She was predeceased by her husband Francis Leonard Townsend, sister Florence and brothers, Charles, Vernon, Alvin, Truman and special brother in law, Calvin MacLean. Graveside Burial Service was held 10 am Friday, June 15, 2012 in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lr. Sackville, under the direction of Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home with Rev. David Hann officiating.
