MAJAESS, Fred Khalil - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Fred (Fouad) Khalil Majaess of Halifax, Nova Scotia, announces his peaceful passing on Tuesday May 16, 2023 at age 99. He passed away at home surrounded by family. Born in Bhamdoun, Lebanon on September 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Khalil and Nakleh (Freiha) Moujaes.
He is survived by his niece Salwa and nephews Dr. George, Joseph (Rima) and Michael (Daphne) of Halifax, his niece Lillian (Daniel) of Amherst and other nieces and nephews in Ottawa, Toronto, Victoria and Lebanon. He will be affectionately remembered by his nieces, nephews and their families as a loving uncle.
He was predeceased by his wife Wadia Majaess (Al-Molky) and his brothers Gebrael, Amine and Asaad in Canada, and brothers Michael, Ibrahim and Sleiman and sister Marie in Lebanon, and his nephew the late Fouad Majaess in Victoria, BC.
He immigrated to Canada in 1951 and he has been lifelong resident of Halifax, Nova Scotia since. He was hardworking, kind, warm, honest and helpful. He had a generous spirit and gracious demeaner. He owned and operated businesses the last of which was Majaess Market which he owned and operated with his late brother Amine for many years.
The family is grateful to Dr. L. Mallery, to the Northwood Home Care Personnel, and to the VON nurses for their care, compassion and professionalism.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, May 24,2023 from 6PM to 8PM at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, 1PM at Saint Antonios Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2480 Windsor Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of the late Fred Majaess to Northwood Home Care, VON or Saint Antonios Church.
